HOW TO CLEAN YOUR PHONE SPEAKERS AND PORTS
Everyday the speakers and ports or openings generally on the surface of our phones make contact with foreign objects and particles such as dust which stick to them. These particles may not be noticed at first but over time the would be. They might even cause the audio quality of your phone to be affected and for the plugging of your charger or earphones not to be as smooth as before. Then comes the problem of “how to remove those foreign objects/particles “. You can take it to an engineer or if you like you can DIY*.
*Do it yourself. For those who don’t understand. Lol.
How can you DIY. There are two methods, namely; (1) Use household items (2) Use compressed air and (3) Clean from inside.
1. Use household items
- Locate your speakers and ports
- Use a cotton swab/bud to clean the openings.Push the cotton swab/bud into the openings and move it in a circular motion or left and right. Don’t push it in too much so as not to cause any damage just put it in in a way that it can clean adequately. Remember to change cotton swab/bud when it gets dirty.
- Use sticky tacPress sticky tac into the opening to extract dirt. Always use a new ,clean surface to insert. If you press it in too much and some of the sticky tac remain in the opening, don’t panic, but put a clean surface of the sticky tac back in to collect the remnant sticky tac. Continue until you’ve remo it all.
- Use toothbrush bristlesPreferably soft or medium. Don’t use hard. Use it to clean the openings by gently inserting and brushing it out. You can do it at an angle as appropriate.
2. Using compressed air
- Purchase a can of compressed airYou can get one at office supply stores, electronics stores or online. Make sure to purchase one with a straw for improved accuracy.
- tighten the straw if you feel air leaking fromthe sides of the nozzle.
- Blow compressed air in the openings for 3-4 short releases.Keep the source of air about ½inch away from the opening. It can help to remove excess dirt from cotton swab/bud.NOTE:
- Don’t blow too close to avoid damaging your phones inner electrical components.
- If you use the straw you may hold it with your non-dominant hand to keep it steady.
3. Clean from inside
It’s advisable to see your engineer if you want to use this method, so as not to cause preventable damages to your phone.
