The PS5 is a home video game console by Sony interactive Entertainment. It was announced on November 19, 2020 7 years after its predecessor, the Playstation 4. It has two variants; the console and digital version.
The Console and Digital are both similar features except for the fact that you have to download your games online from Playstation on the digital version while you just need to buy the Game disc for the console version. The similarities in features include:

Some other main features of the PlayStation 5 include solid-state drive(SSD) customized for high-speed data streaming to enable significant improvements in storage performance, an AMD GPU capable of 4K resolution display at up to 120 frames per second, hardware-accelerated ray tracing for realistic lighting and reflections, the Tempest Engine allowing for 3D audio effects, and backward compatibility with most PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR games.
HARDWARE
The PS5 is powered by a custom system on a chip (SoC) designed in tandem by AMD and Sony, integrating a custom 7nm AMD Zen 2 CPU with eight cores running at a variable frequency capped at 3.5 GHz. The integrated GPU is also a custom unit based on AMD’s RDNA 2 graphics architecture. The GPU has 36 compute units running at a variable frequency capped at 2.23 GHz, making it capable of a peak theoretical performance of 10.3 teraflops. The GPU supports hardware accelerated real-time ray tracing, a rendering technique that allows for realistic lighting and reflections. The console has 16 GB of GDDR6 SDRAM with a peak bandwidth of 448 GB/s, and integrates Bluetooth 5.1, and 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6).
SOFTWARE
The PlaySyation 5 User interface is described by SONY as “accessible and informative”. Players no longer have to boot a game to see what’s up(e.g. real-time updates of friends’ activities, available multiplayer activities, and single-player missions and rewards), all those information will be clearly visible in the UI. Some other nice features of the PS5 software/UI include improved responsiveness/speed, accessibility, clarity and simplicity. It is rendered in 4K resolution and High dynamic range(HDR). Some features were also changed or redesigned such as the animated boot up screen, Login screen and the motifs of the PS4 were redesigned into a new home screen user Interface. The top of the screen has a row of applications, and two upper tabs to switch between showing games or media apps. Selecting a game reveals individual activities such as a specific level or multiplayer mode. PlayStation Store is no more just an application but is now fully integrated into the home screen user interface.
One of the significant departure from the PS4 interface is the introduction of the Control Center, which is summoned from the bottom of the screen by pressing the PS button. The Control Center is divided into two sections. The upper portion is a row of cards suggesting actions based on the current game or recent actions such as a group chat. Game-related cards may present players with gameplay information such as a progress report toward completing specific missions, or listing game challenges with an option to jump directly to it. PlayStation Plus subscribers see game activity cards with hints, tips, screenshots, or videos detailing how to complete the activity. These features are available for PS5 games or for updated PS4 games. The lower portion of the Control Center contains a customizable horizontal row of icons, including notifications, status updates, friends list, and system settings.
The PlayStation 5 supports YouTube, Twitch, Netflix, Disney+, Spotify, Apple TV+, Crunchyroll, Amazon Prime Video, MyCanal, Hulu, Peacock and HBO Max,. Sony promises to add other streaming serv6in the future. The system includes support for PlayStation Now, which is a subscription-based cloud gaming service of SONY to play games from older generations of PlayStation consoles.
